Revisión de modelos no animales avanzados en investigación biomédica

La EURL ECVAM ha puesto en marcha una serie de estudios para revisar los modelos no animales disponibles y emergentes que se están utilizando para la investigación en siete áreas de enfermedades:

El objetivo es identificar y describir contextos de investigación específicos en los que se han dejado de lado los modelos animales en favor de técnicas novedosas sin animales que utilizan, por ejemplo, métodos in vitro basados en células humanas y tejidos artificiales o enfoques in silico que emplean la modelización y la simulación por ordenador.

Se espera que la comprensión y el intercambio de información sobre casos de éxito en el uso de modelos alternativos en la investigación biomédica faciliten y aceleren la transición hacia planteamientos sin animales.
